whats is pat testing?

Pat Testing is testing of electrical assets for its safety, and it can uncover any defects or hazards in your everyday equipment.

Pat Testing includes visual and electrical check to ensure its safety.

The PAT Testing eliminates fire hazards or electrical shocks and is very important to be carried out on a regular basis

  • Office/ home appliances are required to be tested annually while
  • Catering equipment every 6 months and
  • Tools/ machinery at the building sites are required to be tested once every 3 months.

This are only recommendations, but the actual requirements can be verified by the insurance company.

PAT Testing is regulated by the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 in Ireland. This legislation is implemented under Statutory Instrument S.I. No.299 of 2007, which came into force in November 2007.

What are portable appliances?

Portable appliance is any electrical equipment that can be plugged in. That may include elements such as: kettles, microwaves, toasters, lamps, chargers, monitors, hair dryers, washing machines, fridges, etc. Basically, anything that has a plug is considered a portable appliance.

How does the testing look like?

Engineer will first visually test the equipment to see any visual defects, once it’s all looking well the plug will be opened and checked. After that, the appliance will be connected to our testing equipment and if all is safe, we will be happy to print the label that will include the pass test, ID number with barcode and the date of the test. If testing is unsuccessful, we are happy to assist you with the repair service on site and test again for your safety.

Who carries out the testing?

Our professionally trained Pat Testing engineer carries out the testing and the repair services.

What happens next?

Once all your equipment is tested for its safety, we will issue testing reports and safety certificate. We will keep a record of your testing and can be contacted for any additional information. Annual inspections are recommended and can be arranged at competitive pricing.
